Even before the Covid-19 pandemic, there was a significant increase in the number of young people experiencing clinical-level anxiety. A meta-analysis of 29 studies reported in JAMA Pediatrics found that about 11.6% of kids had anxiety in 2012, which was a 20% increase from 2007. During the pandemic, these numbers nearly doubled, with approximately 20.5% of youth worldwide now struggling with anxiety symptoms. Anxiety disorders are among the most common mental health conditions seen among children and adolescents, with prevalence rates ranging from 4% to 20% .
